Toledo Announces 2007-08 Signees

Hadsell and his staff land 25 recruits in signing period

TOLEDO, OH - Head Coach Kevin Hadsell has announced the addition of 25 women's cross country and track and field athletes for the 2007-08 school year. It is the largest signing class in school history and, according to Coach Hadsell, the most talented.

"We have filled a lot of holes with this class, and I have never been more excited," Hadsell said. "Several of our incoming athletes are at the NCAA Regional level already. Our distance class is very deep and we have added some very high-quality individuals in all the other event areas as well."

2007 Cross Country/Track Newcomers

Jaime Gittens -- Jumps (Fr., Wallaceburg, ONT): School and region record holder in long jump and triple jump. One of the top-ranked high school jumpers in Canada. Has registered personal-bests of 18-5 (long jump) and 40-1 (triple jump). Her personal-best of 12.21m in the triple jump is only .11m off the NCAA Regional qualifying standard.

Shari Harmon -- Pole Vault (Fr., Temperance, MI/Bedford HS): School, conference and regional champion in pole vault. Has registered personal-best of 12-0. All-State selection in 2006 and 2007. Michigan Division I runner-up in pole vault in 2006 and 2007.

Zsanett Kis -- Distance/XC (Jr., Budapest, Hungary): Participated in European Cross Country Championships for Hungary. Has run personal-best times of 2:14 (800m), 4:30 (1500m), 9:46 (3000m), 16:55 (5000m) and 35:14 (10,000m).

Iwona Byrska -- Throws (Fr., Bielsko-Biala, Poland): One of top Under-20 javelin throwers in Europe. Has personal-best throw of 51.05m (167-6). Her personal-best throws will rank her in the top-20 in the NCAA.

Katy Born -- Pole Vault (Fr., Defiance, OH/Defiance HS): School, conference, district and regional champion in pole vault. Has registered personal-best of 11-6. All-State selection in 2006 and 2007. Ohio State Division II Runner-up in pole vault in 2007.

Alyssa Richie -- Multi (Fr., Pettisville, OH/Pettisville HS): All-State selection in long jump and hurdles. Has personal-best times of 15.0 (100H), 45.6 (300H), 17-6 (LJ). Will compete in the pentathlon and heptathlon as well as pole vault.

Danielle Jacoby -- 400/800 (Fr., Cary, OH/Cary HS): All-state selection in 200m and 400m. Will focus on 400m and 800m in college. Has run personal-best times of 24.8 (200m), 56.6 (400m). 2007 Ohio State Division III 400m champion. 2006 Ohio State Division III 200m runner-up.

Lindsay Toussant -- Distance/XC (Fr., Minerva, OH/Minerva HS): 2007 Ohio Division II All-state selection in both the 1600m and the 3200m. Finished fourth in the 2007 Ohio Division II Championships in the 1600m and fifth in the 3200m. Has run personal-best times of 5:06 (1600m) and 11:20 (3200m).

Amber Cushnie -- Middle Distance/XC (Fr., Pickering, ONT/Pine Ridge HS): 2006 third-place finisher at Canadian Junior National Championships in 3000m steeplechase. Has run personal-best times of 10:14 (3000m) and 11:08 (3000mSC) as well as 5:05 (1500mSC).

Danielle Thomas -- 800m (Fr., Perrysburg, OH/Anthony Wayne HS): All-District and All-Region selection. 2007 State Division I qualifier at 800-meters. Has run personal-best times of 59.0 (400m), 2:17 (800m).

Kimara Morgan -- Sprinter (Fr., Columbus, OH/ Eastmoor Academy): Part of state championship 4x200m and 4 x 400m relay teams. State qualifier Division II in 400m and 200m. Has run personal-bests times of 25.0 (200m) and 57.1 (400m).

Natasha Lewis -- Sprinter (Fr., Maple Heights, OH/Maple Heights HS): Injured in 2007 but has run personal-best times of 15.0 (100H) and 45.0 (300H). All-state selection indoors in 2007.

Megan Marzec -- Sprinter (Fr., Whiteford, OH/Anthony Wayne, HS): Regional qualifier 400m. State qualifier 4 x 200m and 4 x 400m. Has run personal-best times of 12.5 (100m), 25.2 (200m), 57.9 (400m).

Joni Camp -- Middle Distance/XC (Fr., Norwayne, OH/Creston HS): All-State in both cross country and track. Has run personal-best times of 5:08 (1600m) and 46.0 (300H), 59.5 (400m). Sister is two-time All-MAC selection and team co-captain, Nicole Camp.

Karen Sovacool -- Middle Distance/XC (Fr., Lakewood, OH/Magnificat HS): State Division I qualifier 1600m and 4 x 800m. Has run personal-best times of 2:17 (800m) and 5:03 (1600m).

Sarah Neubacher -- Distance/XC (Fr., Ft. Wayne, IN/Concordia Lutheran HS): State runner-up indoors at 3200m. All-state selection in cross country and track. Has run personal-best times of 5:09 (1600m) and 11:03 (3200m).

Audra Brown -- Distance/XC (Fr., Ayersville, OH/Ayersville HS): One of only 12 girls in state of Ohio to qualify for state meet all four years in both cross country and track. State Division III qualifier at 3200m. All-state selection in cross country and track.

Lindsay Toussant -- Distance/XC (Fr., Minerva, OH/Minerva HS): All-state selection in track. Finished fourth in 1600m and fifth in 3200m at 2007 State Division II Championships. Has run personal-best times of 5:07 (1600m), 11:20 (3200m).

Erin McGowan -- Distance/XC (So.-R, Perrysburg, OH/Miami-OH): Transfer from Miami-OH. 2007 All-Ohio Indoor runner-up in 3000m. One of top-ranked MAC runners at 3000m. Has run personal-best time of 10:10 (3000m).

Heather Wagner -- Middle Distance (Fr.-R, Waterville, OH/Cleveland State): Transfer from Cleveland State where she was a starter on the women's soccer team. Will focus on track and cross country at Toledo. Has run personal-best times of 58.5 (400m) and 2:18 (800m).

Jenna Fausey -- Distance/XC (Fr., Minster, OH/Minster HS): State qualifier in both cross country and track. Has run personal-best times of 11:38 (3200m) and 5:28 (1600m).

Ari Fisher -- Middle Distance/XC (Fr., Lebanon, OH/Lebanon HS): Ohio State Division I state qualifier. District Cross Country champion. Has run personal-best times of 5:20 (1600m) and 11:24 (3200m).

Ali Fisher -- Middle Distance/XC (Fr., Lebanon, OH/ Lebanon HS): Regional qualifier in cross country and track.

Megan Chambers -- Distance/XC (Fr., Rocky River, OH/Magnificat HS): State qualifier in cross country and track. Has run personal-best times of 5:23 (1600m) and 11:48 (3200m).

Amanda Kaverman -- Sprinter (Fr., Sylvania, OH/Southview HS): Regional qualifier 200m. Has run personal-best times of 12.4 (100m), 25.2 (200m), 59.0 (400m).
