July 23, 2007
RIO DE JANIERO, Brazil - Recent Cornell graduates Morgan Uceny '07 and Emily McCabe '06 finished up outstanding track seasons by representing the United States with strong performances at the Pan American Games in Brazil on Monday.
Representing the USA in the women's 800, Uceny finished fifth in her semifinal heat of the 800 and 11th overall in a time of 2:04.13, just over a second off of advancing to the finals. This finishes up a phenomenal year for Uceny, in which she won her fifth and sixth career Heps titles at 800 meters, earned two All-American honors (indoor and outdoor 800) and finished 4th at the USATF Championships in a PR 2:01.75.
McCabe ran a very good race as well, running 33:39.61 for 10,000 meters to place sixth, just 13 seconds off of her personal best set earlier this spring, despite hot and humid conditions. A year after graduating from Cornell, McCabe has had a very competitive 2007, including a 7th place finish at USATFs in the 10K and top showings against national caliber fields in the Friehofer (5K) and Peachtree (15K) road races.
