129th IC4A-ECAC Track and Field Championships

When:  May 13-15

Where:  Princeton University, Princeton, N.J.

 

The Competitors:  The Mount has seven men and and five women competing at the IC4A-ECAC Track and Field Championships.  Josh and Ryan Martin are in the discus, Devin Barry is in the 110m hurdles and the long jump, Corey Brown is in the long jump and the triple jump, Kenneth Wells in the 110m hurdles, and the 4x100m relay team consists of Barry, Brown, Jay Phillips and Nick Wright.  On the women's side, the Mount's 4x100m relay team of Angie Jones, Laura Jezek, Mandy Jenkins and Denise Tetkowski qualified for a spot.  Jenkins is also in the pole vault while Nina Victorin is in the shot put.

Last Time Out:  The Mount St. Mary's men's and women's outdoor track and field teams had three individuals and one relay team qualify for the NCAA regionals with conference titles on Sunday afternoon at the Northeast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at Morgan Track on campus.

 

The Mount women finished the event in fourth place with 94 points whle the men's team was fifth with 85 points. St. Francis (Pa.) won the women's title while Monmouth was the men's winner.

 

Mount junior Devin Barry won the 110m hurdles in a time of 14.29s to earn his second conference title of the year. Barry won the 60m hurdles at the NEC Indoor Meet earlier this season. With the victory, Barry qualifies for the NCAA regionals.

 

Shannon Norris won the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 14.22s, besting teammates Laura Jezek, who finished in third place (14.27s) and Denise Tetkowski, who finished fourth (14.57s). With the victory, Norris earns a spot in the NCAA regionals.

The Mount's women's 4x100m relay team of Angie Jones, Jezek, Tetkowski and Norris won with a time of 47.34s to earn the NCAA regional spot.

 

In the men's discus, sophomore Ryan Martin finished second with a toss of 50.56m, earning an NCAA regional spot with his throw distance. Martin also finished sixth with a throw of 53.61m in the javelin.

Mount sophomore Zach Emerson started the day with a second-place effort in the 3000m steeplechase (9:17.88). Kenneth Wells finished fourth in the 110m hurdles (14.63s) while Sara Ann Brown was seventh in the 400m dash (58.93). Norris placed fourth in the 100m dash (12.02) and fifth in the 200m dash (24.97s).

Kayla Miller earned points by finishing eighth in the 800m (2:27.77) while Keith Rolon was sixth in the men's 800m (1:57.82) and Francis Bloom was eighth (2:03.42). Kim Najem earned a fifth-place finish in the 5000m run (18:30.43) while the Mount's women's 4x400m relay team of Brown, Jezek, Mandy Jenkins and Tetkowski finished third with a time of 3:52.80. Josh Martin had a fourth-place finish in the discus (47.87m) .

 

In the triple jump, Jones was second with a leap of 11.40m while on the men's side, Corey Brown also finished in second place (14.76m).


 

 

On the first day of competition, Jenkins  won the pole vault at the Northeast Conference Championships on Saturday. On the men's side, Brown and Barry  finished second and third, respectively, in the long jump.   Jenkins won the pole vault with a mark of 3.60m (11-9.75). Mount St. Mary's senior Kayla Miller finished fourth with a vault of 3.20m (10-6). Denise Tetkowski earned a fourth-place finish in the long jump (5.80m, 19-0.5) while Angie Jones was seventh (5.52m, 18-1.5). Nina Victorin earned a fifth-place mark in the shot put (12.91m, 42-4.25) while Kim Najem opened the day finishing fifth in the 10,000m run with a time of 39:08.66.   

Brown and Barry were second and third, respectively, in the long jump. Brown had a leap of 7.15m (23-5.5), just ahead of Barry's mark of 7.14m (23-5.25). The 4x800m relay team of Peter Loehle, Keith Rolon, Francis Bloom and Oneil Barnaby earned a third-place finish with a time of 7:56.02. In the high jump, Brown finished in sixth place with a mark of 1.99m (6-6.25).

Competitors that finished first at the NEC Championships earned First Team All-Conference while those who finished second were named Second Team All-NEC.

 

Directions to the Event:

From the NORTH/NEW YORK CITY
Take the New Jersey Turnpike south to Exit 9 (New Brunswick). After the toll booths, take the first right turn onto the ramp for Route 18 north. Soon after you enter Route 18, take the left side of a fork in the road, staying in the right lane. Immediately bear right for an exit to U.S. Route 1 south/Trenton.

Drive south on Route 1 for about 18 miles to the Washington Road exit, which is a traffic circle. Take the first right off the circle (between the gas stations) toward Princeton. The campus is located approximately a mile straight ahead.

 

From the WEST
Drive east on Interstate 78 into New Jersey. Exit onto southbound Interstate 287 (toward Somerville). Follow signs for Routes 202/206 south. Go south on 202 for a short distance and then follow signs to 206 south, which will take you around a traffic circle. Go south on 206 for about 18 miles to Nassau Street (Route 27) in the center of Princeton. Turn left onto Nassau Street, and follow it to the third traffic light. Turn right onto Washington

 

From the SOUTH
If you are coming from southern New Jersey, we recommend that you take Interstate 295 north (instead of the New Jersey Turnpike). Take Exit 67 to Route 1 north. Travel about three miles north on Route 1 to the Washington Road exit, which is a traffic circle. Go three quarters of the way around the circle and turn right (between the gas stations) toward Princeton. The campus is located approximately a mile straight ahead.

 

From the EAST
Take Interstate 195 west (toward Trenton) to the exit for Interstate 295 north. Drive seven miles to the exit for Route 1 north (exit 67). Travel about three miles north on Route 1 to the Washington Road exit, which is a traffic circle. Go three quarters of the way around the circle and turn right (between the gas stations) toward Princeton. The campus is located approximately a mile straight ahead.

 

From the PHILADELPHIA AREA
Take Interstate 95 north into New Jersey and exit at Route 1 north (exit 67). Travel about three miles north on Route 1 to the Washington Road exit, which is a traffic circle. Go three quarters of the way around the circle and turn right (between the gas stations) toward Princeton. The campus is located approximately a mile straight ahead.

 

Directions to Lot 21

Heading north on Washington Road (away from Routh 1), turn right onto Faculty Road. After passing Jadwin Gym, turn left on Fitzrandolph Road and then take the first left turn into Lot 21.
