Sophomore Caitlin Clancy also breaks her own school record in the pole vault

Norman, Okla. - The University of Tulsa's track and field team ran great at the Sooner Twilight on Saturday at John Jacobs Track and Field Complex on the campus of the University of Oklahoma in preparation for the Conference USA Outdoor Championships. The Golden Hurricane had two athletes qualify for the NCAA Midwest Regional, one school record broken and nine top-three finishes.
Sophomore Caitlin Clancy broke her own school record in the pole vault with a second-place finish and a jump of 3.70m (12-01.50), beating her previous record of 11-11.75.
Freshman Jennifer Mace and senior April Montgomery become seventh and eighth members of the team to qualify for NCAA Midwest Regional in Lincoln, Neb. Mace finished third in the 400m with a time of 53.95, beating the qualifying mark of 54.61. Montgomery will travel to her third NCAA Midwest Regional, after placing second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:00,78, just faster than the qualifying mark of 1:00.82.
Of the nine top-three finishes, TU had two first-place finishers. Red-shirt freshman Mark Davidson won the 1,500m with a time of 3:55.92, while freshman Kelsey Klein claimed first in the discus throw with a distance of 42.06m (138-00).
The other notable top-three finishes include: Freshman Ashley Aitken placing second in the 800m with a time of 2:13.04; Freshman Dannielle McKenzie finishing third in the 1,500m with a time of 4:54.96. Klein finishing second in the hammer throw with a distance of 47.49m (155-10); Attila Korosi placing third in the 400m with a time of 48.36.

The Golden Hurricane will next travel to UTEP's Kidd Field in El Paso, Texas for the C-USA Outdoor Championships, May 15-17.
