PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Despite brilliant efforts by Cack Ferrell and Emily Kroshus, the Princeton women's track and field team placed fourth at this weekend's Ivy League Heptagonal Championships, held at Brown University.
Ferrell, who placed third in the 1,500, took first-team All-Ivy honors in the 3,000 by topping teammate Emily Kroshus. Ferrell won in 9:27.15, while Kroshus placed second in 9:29.54.
Kroshus, the brilliant senior who has been a top scorer in all three track seasons, followed her win in the 10,000 on Saturday by claiming the 5,000 title on Sunday. Kroshus came in at 16:16.15, just ahead of Cara Kiernan's time of 16:17.03. Meredith Lambert gave Princeton yet another medalist in a distance event with a third-place finish of 16:19.28. Lambert placed second on Saturday to Kroshus in the 10,000.
Hasina Outtz placed second in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:00.32, falling behind Cornell's Shonda Brown. Susan Coltman placed in the heptathalon, scoring 4806 points. Kelsey Wiegmann of Dartmouth won the event, and Kai Ivory (Penn) placed second.
