GW Diver Selected As A-10 Performer of the Week

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington University diver Katura Horton-Perinchief (Sandys, Bermuda / Richview Collegiate Institute (Toronto, ONT) was named the Atlantic 10 Women's Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week Monday for her performance in the Colonials' dual meet against Old Dominion University on Saturday.

In the meet, Horton-Perinchief swept the one and three-meter diving events with scores of 243.07 and 284.32, respectively.

It's the second time in four weeks that Horton-Perinchief was honored by the A-10. She was also named Performer of the Week Nov. 15 for winning the same events against East Carolina University. Her scores that day of 255.90 in the one-meter dive and 297.83 in the three-meter dive currently stand as the highest totals in the Conference this season.

Horton-Perinchief arrived at George Washington this year from the University of Texas where she earned All-Big 12 Conference honors in diving.

A native of Bermuda, Horton-Perinchief represented her country in this summer's Olympics in Athens, Greece. She also dove for Bermuda last summer at the 2003 World Championships and at the Pan American Games.

The GW men's and women's swimming and diving teams return to action Jan. 8 when they travel to Miami, FL to face Florida International University in a dual meet.
