DALLAS (SMU) - Twelve SMU women swimmers and one men swimmer are headed to Washington to compete among 700 athletes in one of the three elite domestic meets that USA Swimming will sanction in 2006. The swimmers will compete March 28- April 1 at the 2006 Spring Championships in Federal Way, Wash. at the Weyerhaeuser King-County Aquatic Center.

Candace Blackman will be competing in the 100 meter freestyle event seeded in 11th place. Seeded 5th, the sophomore is also racing in the 200 meter freestyle and is seeded 6th in the 50 meter freestyle.

Jennifer Blackman will be racing in the 100 meter freestyle with a seeding of 35th and the 50 meter freestyle seeded at 39th.

Roxane Akradi will begin her competition with a seeding of 65th in the 100 meter freestyle event. In the 100 meter backstroke, Akradi is seeded for 10th-place finish. She is also scheduled to compete in the 50 meter freestyle with a seeding of 44th.

Jenny Basel is slated to compete in the 200 meter breaststroke and is seeded at 37th and Celina Lemmen is racing in the 200 meter freestyle and has been seeded 7th overall.

Katie Roberts is set to compete in the 200 meter freestyle with a 10th-place seeding. In the 400 meter freestyle, she is seeded at 15th and Anja Carman is slated for a 4th place finish in the 400 meter freestyle and is 22nd in the 1500 meter freestyle.

In the 400 meter freestyle. Flavia Rigamonti is seeded for a 7th-place finish while in the 1500 meter freestyle she is seeded at 1st place with an incredible seed time of nearly 30 seconds faster than her nearest opponent.

Tamara Sambralio is at 21st in the 100 meter breaststroke event and 49th in the 200 meter IM event while Leane Darling is seeded 42nd in the 100 meter butterfly. Katherine Eason is going to compete in the 200 IM and is seeded 66th and Michelle Vlasakova is seeded 38th in the 50 meter freestyle.

The 800 meter freestyle relay team is expected to finish in 1st-place while the 400 meter freestyle relay is also expecting a top finish as it is seeded at 2nd. The 400 meter medley relay is seeded for a top-five finish.

Luka Vrtovec will compete in the 50 meter freestyle for the men. Vrtovec is seeded for a top ten finish at 6th place.
