Cincinnati Heads to Oxford for Non-Conference Dual
Bearcats look for first win of the season

FOR STARTERS:
The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving teams travel to Oxford to take on the Redhawks. UC enters the meet with each team winless on the year, while the Redhawk men have a 3-3 mark and the women are riding a 4-2 record.
BEARCAT BITES:
Senior Jakub Carda leads the Bearcats in BIG EAST event qualifications with eight. The versatile swimmer from the Czech Republic has two event wins on the year both coming against Washington.
Sophomore Jeremy Peter in his last meet against Louisville set two records during the day; his victory in the 200 yard breaststroke set the Cincinnati pool record eclipsing West Virginia's Sean Mahoney by .28 seconds. Peter's second mark came in the 400 IM, where he bested teammate Jakub Carda's record by .01 of a second, to set the Keating Aquatics Center record.
Sophomore Sarah Krone was UC's lone female winner against Louisville. Krone was victorious in the 500 yard freestyle, with a time of 5:08.95. The win was her second of the year, the last coming against fellow BIG EAST school West Virginia.
SECONDS AWAY:
Sophomore Josh Schneider has had an exceptional year so far in the pool; his seven event wins lead the team. Along with the victories, he's a second away in three events to qualify for the NCAA `B' cut. His time of 20.60 in the 50 meter freestyle is only .42 seconds away from the mark. He also is just .14 seconds away from capturing the `B' cut in 100 meter butterfly.
SECONDS AWAY, PART TWO:
Sophomore Elinore de Jong is the closest female to capture an NCAA mark. Her time of 55.77 in the 100 meter butterly is just .41 seconds away from the NCAA `B' mark. Her performaces in the 50 and 100 meter freestyle are just 1.15 and 1.16 seconds away from the cut, respectively.
LAST TIME AGAINST MIAMI (OHIO):
Cincinnati hosted the Redhawks in a non-conference dual. The meet finished with a split, as the men slipped past by a score of 121-116, and the women fell; 151-88. Several current Bearcat swimmers scored during the day including event winners; Josh Schneider, who took home the 50 and 100 yard freestyle, Jeremy Peter in the 400 IM and Nick Saul in the 500 yard freestyle.
LAST TIME OUT:
Cincinnati dropped a BIG EAST dual to rival Louisville. The men were defeated by a score of 167-95, while the women fell 200-61. The loss drops each team to 0-4 on the season.
UP NEXT:
Cincinnati will continue it's road trip, traveling to Rochester, Michigan on Jan. 19 to compete against the Oakland Golden Grizzlies. The dual which starts at 1 p.m. will take place at the OU Aquatics Center. The Bearcats have swam against OU this season during the Miami Invitational.
