Harvard Claims Four Spots On Men's Squash All-Ivy

April 1, 2004

Siddharth Suchde (Zurich, Switzerland) was named Ivy League Rookie of the Year, joining sophomore Will Broadbent (Greenwich, CT), junior Michael Blumberg (Victoria, British Columbia), and fellow freshman Ilan Oren (Kfar Shmaryahu, Israel) on the 2004 All Ivy squash team the League announced.

Broadbent, playing at the No. 1 spot for most of the season, advanced to the national championship but was bested by Princeton's Yasser El-Halaby, 9-6, 9-1, 9-0 in the finals.

Suchde lived up to all the preseason billing by winning several key matches for the Crimson as they captured the Ivy title with an undefeated Ivy season. He then advanced to the national semifinals before falling to El-Halaby as well.

Oren, another member of Harvard's outstanding freshman class, made it to the round of 16 where he lost to Reggie Schonborn of Trinity.

Blumberg also made a run in the CSA Championships, advancing to the quarterfinals before falling to teammate and eventual finalist, Broadbent.

The four players earning the distinction for the Crimson are the most for any squad. Yale is the only other school with multiple selections.
