Tague Thorson wins New Zealand National Championship

Ute freshman takes GS title in Canterbury

Utah's Tague Thorson captured the GS title in 1:02.45 at the the 2007 Australia-New Zealand Cup. The Sept. 15 event was held in Canterbury, New Zealand. Thorson was training in New Zealand when he found out that races were being held and decided to participate. Thorson said he's glad he went, and the trip exceeded his expectations.

"It is one of those things worth doing," he said. "My goal wasn't to win races, it was to ski well. Fortunately for me, both happened."
