BROWNSVILLE, Vt. - The Babson alpine ski teams kicked off their final weekend of the regular season with a strong showing at the BC Carnival at Ascutney on Saturday, as the men finished fourth and the women took seventh in the first of two slalom competitions. Both teams will wrap up their regular season with another slalom race on Sunday.
Seeking their fifth trip to regionals in the last six years, the men's team turned in another stellar effort on Saturday. Junior co-captain John Roche led the squad with a 12th-place performance, while first-year Max Winthrop turned in the best finish of the young collegiate career by finishing 14th overall. Junior co-captain Kevin Fusick was close behind in 20th place, while sophomore Chris Jacobs and first-year Keith Vella also placed in the top 30, taking 25th and 27th respectively. Sophomore Connor Lemenze added a 43rd-place effort and first-year Enrico Palmerino added the best finish of his rookie season, placing 51st.
First-year Alyssa Sullivan recorded the women's top finish for the fifth consecutive race, as she placed 20th overall. Classmate Alexis Burton was close behind in 25th place, followed by senior captain Jess Cohen in 51st, sophomore Tahira Adatia in 61st, and first-year Victoria Tanous in 62nd.
