HENLEY-ON-THAMES, England - The Princeton freshman heavyweight "A" crew defeated the Princeton varsity lightweight "B" crew to claim the Temple Cup this past weekend at the Henley Royal Regatta. The freshman heavyweight crew, which went undefeated this past season and claimed the IRA national title, won by two and a quarter lengths.
"This is the best I have ever felt in my rowing career," freshman heavyweight crew coach Greg Hughes said afterwards. "I feel very proud of these guys. Two of the only started rowing nine months ago."
The Temple Cup is awarded for student eights.
