June 11, 2006

LEDYARD, Conn. (AP) -Harvard won the 141st Harvard-Yale Regatta on Sunday to remain unbeaten for the seventh consecutive year.

The Crimson finished the 4-mile men's heavyweight crew race in 23 minutes, 22.6 seconds. Ivy League archrival Yale finished two boat lengths behind in 23:30.4.

The race had been scheduled for Saturday, but windy conditions forced officials to postpone the event.

Both crews again faced gusts on the Thames River on Sunday, and Harvard's winning time was the slowest since 1976.

Harvard has won 20 of the last 22 regattas, extending its dominance in the nation's oldest intercollegiate contest. The Crimson leads the series 88-53.
