CHERRY HILL, NJ - The George Washington University Men's Rowing Team concluded three days of racing Saturday at the 2008 IRA National Championships in Cherry Hill, NJ on the Cooper River. The teams efforts were highlighted by a 20th place finish for the Varsity Eight (the marquee event of the regatta), finishing 1.5 seconds behind Georgetown in the 4th level final.

"The level of competition at this regatta is incredibly high," said head coach Greg Myhr. "We've felt fortunate to have even garnered a bid in the varsity eight event the past several years, and this year was no exception. We took our licks in the qualifying rounds, but raced very well in the final today. My hat's off to our guys, as well as to all of the crews competing at this race."

The 2nd Varsity Eight and Freshman Eight crews both raced well, but missed qualifying for a spot in Saturday's finals (the 2nd Varsity missing the cut by a scant split second).

The Colonials also fielded entries in the Varsity Pair, which ended up 9th in their event, and the Open Four, which finished 12th.
