Georgetown Women's Crew Has Eight Rowers Named CRCA Scholar-Athletes

Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University Women's Crew had eight rowers honored as the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) announced their scholar-athletes for the 2008 season. Four openweight and lightweight rowers, respectively, were selected. Senior Maria Lipperini, was joined by sophomores Anika DeVolder, Meg Ginivan, Victoria Koke, Christianne Persenaire, Danielle Post, Katharine Thompson and Alex Vezina in being recognized by the CRCA.

Requirements for the honor specify that the student-athlete has met all eligibility rules as defined by her institution, was in her second, third, or fourth year of eligibility, rowed in her institution's NCAA or IRA eligible boat(s) for a minimum of 75 percent of the current spring races or racing in a regional conference event and that the Head Coach of the student-athletes' institution was a member in good standing of the CRCA as of May 1, 2008. The criteria for being named stated that the student-athlete has had a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher for her career (through the fall semester/quarter for the current competition year).

Ginivan is currently majoring in International Politics, Koke in History, Lipperini and Post in English, Persenaire in Science, Technology, and International Affairs, Thompson in French and DeVolder and Vezina are undeclared.
