Purdue Takes Men's, Women's Varsity Eight At Dad Vail
Boilermakers grab both titles in 69th Dad Vail Regatta

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -Purdue won the men's and women's varsity heavyweight eight and claimed the overall point trophy Saturday at the 69th Dad Vail Regatta on the Schuylkill River.
Purdue, seeded third in the men's varsity eight, won in 5 minutes, 42.59 seconds, just ahead of top-seeded Temple (5:44.83) and Florida Tech (5:46.19). The title helped the Boilermakers capture the men's point trophy with 25. Temple and Georgia Tech tied for second with 21 points.
In the women's competition, fifth-seeded Purdue won the varsity eight in 6:31.36, outdistancing third-seeded Saint Joseph's (6:34.49) and top-seeded Massachusetts (6:37.35).
Ohio State (22 points) was the women's point trophy winner, just ahead of Purdue (21).
The Dad Vail Regatta is the largest collegiate rowing competition in North America, drawing more than 3,500 rowers from 120 schools from the United States and Canada.
