Philadelphia, Pa. - The University of Tulsa Novice 4+, consisting of Glynnis Aubrey, Carla Horne, Kellen Baggett, Nicole McNamee and Anne Campbell, turned in a first-place time of 7:19 in both the semifinal and final today to conclude the season undefeated and earned TU's first medal at the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia, Pa. The Tulsa boat went 11-0 in competition, never falling in a heat, semifinal or final this year.

"The only word to describe the Novice 4+ is outstanding," Head Coach Kevin Harris said. "The work Julie [Domina] has done with this novice team is incredible. The boat has very good chemistry and has made a huge contribution to Tulsa rowing this season."

"The Novices had an amazing season," Assistant Coach Julie Domina said. "To go undefeated is pretty much unheard of in college rowing. They approached each race with confidence, and they did everything we asked of them."

The Golden Hurricane's Lightweight 4+ captured the silver medal with a time of 7:23.56, trailing a tough Pittsburgh team by 10 seconds.

The 2nd Varsity 8+ also advanced to the final, claiming a sixth-place finish in a time of 6:52.41, while the Varsity 8+ had a sixth-place mark in the semifinals.

"We took five boats to the Dad Vail, advanced four to today's races and took three to the finals," Harris said. "I am really pleased with the way we ended the regular season and hopefully we can carry today's success into next year."

TU's Lightweight 4+ will continue racing at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship on June 5-7 in Cherry Hill, N.J., while the rest of the team concluded the season today.
