Bucknell won the ECAC Metro Championship for the second consecutive year on Sunday on the Cooper River.

CHERRY HILL, N.J. (Cooper River) - For the second consecutive Sunday, the Bucknell women's rowing team won a championship on the Cooper River. Just one week after capturing its third consecutive Patriot League title, the Bison captured the ECAC Metro Championship for the second straight year. Bucknell won both the overall points trophy as well as the NCAA points trophy by sweeping the three events in which it entered boats.

Bucknell won grand finals in the varsity eight, varsity four and second varsity four. It won the NCAA points trophy based on the points it earned from those three events. The Bison also claimed the overall points trophy, which awarded points on novice finishes in addition to the varsity showings. Bucknell did not have any novice boats race on Sunday, but still came out on top in the overall standings.

In the varsity four, the Bison had two boats compete and the V4 boat won the title, while the 2V4 boat took an impressive third place in the six-boat grand final.

The second varsity eight defeated second-place Massachusetts by 1.18 seconds, clocking in at 6:50.39, while the varsity eight was 3.60 seconds ahead of runner-up Buffalo, crossing the finish line in 6:37.17 in the grand final.

"We're definitely progressing as we continue with our championship season," said Bucknell head coach Stephen Kish. "We are especially proud of the second varsity four and its medal in the varsity four event. We are looking forward to having all the crews racing in two weeks at the Eastern Sprints."

The Bison freshmen and novice boats will be in action this Friday and Saturday, May 9-10, at the Dad Vail Regatta. The varsity crews will next be in action at the Eastern Sprints, which will be held on the Cooper River. It will be the fourth trip of the spring to the Cooper River for the Bison.
