Novice 8+ wins two of three during two-day challenge.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - The Gonzaga University men's rowing team closed out the Pac-10 Challenge presented by Windermere and hosted by Stanford University on Sunday with two victories. The Bulldogs, rowing a 2000-meter course at the Redwood City Lagoon in Redwood City, Calif., earned wins in both the Varsity 8+ and Novice 8+. The Varsity 8+ defeated UCLA, while the Novice 8+ defeated Oregon State University for the second-straight week.
The Zag Varsity 8+ initially lost to UCLA Sunday, closing out the course in a time of 6:37.07, while the Bruins registered a time of 6:17.22. The Bulldogs were awarded a re-race late Sunday morning though. Gonzaga crossed the finish line first in its re-race against UCLA, posting a 6:39.21 finish. The Bruins finished nearly 11 seconds later at 6:50.45.
The Bulldog Novice 8+ squeaked out a five-second victory over Oregon State finishing in a time of 6:35.84. The Beavers posted a time of 6:40.13.
Gonzaga will be back in action April 11-12 when it participates in the George Washington University Invitational. The invitational will take place on the Potomac River in Washington, D.C.
