Job Title/Type: Fall Internship
Structure: ACADEMIC CREDIT - Students work to gain experience and earn credit from their university. The student must be able to provide proof of their college/university credit prior to starting their internship.

Company Description: CSTV: College Sports Television, the new home of college sports, is comprised of two primary business units: College Sports TV, the fastest-growing independent cable network, and College Sports Online, the number one online destination for college sports news, information, scores and analysis.

College Sports TV, which launched April 7, 2003 as the first 24-hour college sports network, televises more college sports than any other network, including regular season and championship event coverage from every major collegiate athletic conference. It is the only provider that can design, develop, implement and oversee an official online store for an athletic department. With more than 90 official online stores in operation, including those for North Carolina, Notre Dame, Georgia and USC, College Sports Online is the #1 online retailer of collegiate licensed merchandise.


  • Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student with an intense passion for college sports.
  • Cable television experience is a plus.
  • Must have online research experience and knowledge of Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Strong oral, written, communication and proofreading skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work and prioritize work assignments.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment under deadlines.


    Ad Sales Responsibilities:
  • Previous sports journalism experience preferred with strong writing and editing skills.
  • Help research advertiser goals and objectives.
  • Help create sponsor/advertiser presentations.
  • Help identify key advertiser opportunities.

    Internet Responsibilities:
  • Previous sports journalism experience preferred with strong writing and editing skills.
  • Assist with the maintaining of content on CSTV.com.
  • Write, edit and format copy for Internet publication.
  • Work with partners and SIDs to prepare for upcoming season.
  • Familiarity with HTML, Photoshop, Microsoft Office.
  • Show creativity in developing ideas and assisting in coverage of college sports.
  • Ability to produce multimedia video and audio highlights for Internet use.
  • This is NOT a computer programming or technical internship.

    Graphics Responsibilities:
  • Finding and prepping images for broadcast
  • Helping with edit sessions and the organization of graphic elements
  • Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student
  • Must have working knowledge Illustrator, Photoshop in Mac (After Effects a plus)
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work and prioritize work assignments
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment under deadlines.
  • May work some weekends

    Marketing Responsibilities:
  • Screen Tapes
  • Provide administrative support such as mailings, running errands to production facilities, making copies, fielding phone calls, and answering phones
  • Coordinate follow-up letters/mailings after Marketing meetings as-needed
  • Work with freelance producers helping them obtain their needs
  • Gather data and compile for marketing/creative services
  • Help with day-to-day organization of the department
  • Prepare correspondence, spreadsheets & documents

    Operations Responsibilities:
  • Assist in Videotape Library and organizing media
  • Assist Operations Department with studio and remote productions
  • Assist Operations Department with budget actualization
  • Provide administrative support
  • Prior excel knowledge preferred

    Public Relations Responsibilities:
  • Interact with all departments of the company, as well as select external groups such as programming partners, media and vendors
  • Fulfillment of internal and external information requests
  • Writing and editing of press releases and other press materials
  • Sports- and cable-related research
  • Press materials management
  • Media and other database management
  • Clips and art files management
  • Research daily clips package
  • Applicants must include multiple writing samples

    Production/Original Production Responsibilities:
  • Research support for game production and studio shows
  • Read local daily/college newspapers from around the country to support feature research and production (working with research to enter great stories into database)
  • Production support (screening, logging, dubbing) for game/feature production and studio shows.
  • Provide administrative support including scheduling and prepping of meetings.
  • Work regularly in the studio assisting the Producers.
  • Assist Talent Coordinator whenever necessary.
  • Assist with Production Assignment Schedule.

    Programming Responsibilities:
  • Research events and event schedules for all collegiate sports.
  • Screen and Log incoming tapes.
  • Assist in dub request procedures. Filing paperwork, following up with tape library and Operations.
  • Generate correspondence, and receive mail/tapes.
  • Research support for game production and studio shows
  • Provide summaries/research for programs in tape library
  • Provide administrative support

    Research Responsibilities:
  • Provide research staff with general administrative support, from filing, copying, creating research binders, distribution, etc.
  • Track and organizing receipt of media guides and other reference materials from schools, etc
  • Assist in compiling roster and pronunciation books for highlighted sports.
  • Access NCAA individual and team statistical leaders on weekly basis for each of the sports.
  • Assist with general fact-finding and at times labor-intensive research gathering.
  • Administer task of gathering weekly news releases from conferences and highlighted schools throughout the fall. Duties would include but not limited to
  • printing releases, copying, stapling and distribution.
  • In studio assistance: tracking games for stats and stories, "runner," creating research packets for game scorers, researching general questions on set, etc.

    Production-Features Responsibilities:
  • Research support for game production and studio shows
  • Production support (screening, logging, dubbing) for game/feature production and studio shows.
  • Assist in selecting music for features spots and assist in editing spots
  • Assist in local shoots in the field
  • Knowledge of sports, and MS Office (Excel, Word) is required.
