Nation's first 24-hour all-college sports network to build new Broadcast Center on Manhattan's West Side

College Sports Television (formerly NCSN) will broadcast from Chelsea Piers, pioneer of West Side's expansion as future home of premier amateur sports CSTV to go live Feb 23rd

NEW YORK, November 4, 2002 - On the heels of New York City's selection to represent the United States in its bid to host the 2012 Olympic games, the Nation's first 24-hour all-college sports network, College Sports Television, today announced plans to locate its headquarters and a new broadcast center in what will become the heart of amateur sports. Armed with exclusive multi-year programming agreements to air the best of men's and women's collegiate sports, the nation's first 24-hour all-college sports cable network plans to begin broadcasting on February 23rd from a new 20,000 sq. ft. street-level facility at the popular Chelsea Piers Sports and Entertainment complex in Manhattan. Now under construction, the new broadcast center will eventually house more than 100 employees, with occupancy beginning Nov. 15th.

The cable network, formerly called the National College Sports Network (NCSN), has been renamed CSTV: College Sports Television (www.cstv.com) to better reflect the voice of the brand.

"New York City is a natural home for college sports television, given the city's role as a melting pot for alumni from virtually every college in America," noted Brian Bedol, co-founder and CEO of CSTV. "And there's no better place to locate than Chelsea Piers, which has flourished as a strong magnet for active sports enthusiasts from throughout the metro area."

When it goes live, CSTV will be the first sports cable network in New York City to have a street-level broadcast center accessible to the public. The facility will house a variety of interactive events and activities for fans, from college coaches' and players' clinics to "meet and greets" with all-star players, top coaches and college sports commentators.

To date, CSTV has struck exclusive programming agreements with more than 22 college conferences including America East, Atlantic 10, Big Ten, Big 12, Big East, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial Athletic Association, Gateway Football League, Horizon League, Metro Atlantic Athletic, Mid-Continent, Mountain West, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Southern, Southland, Sun Belt, West Coast, the Western Athletic Conference, and the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. The agreements cover more than 250 U.S. colleges and universities.

"Our programming partners are thrilled by our decision to have New York City, the media capital of the world, as our company's headquarters," said Chris Bevilacqua, co-founder and Executive Vice President of CSTV. "Clearly, they are looking to us as a national platform for their Olympic-caliber sports."

Programming plans include games, events and championships from up to 25 men's and women's sports on a year-round basis, including consistent weekly coverage in key sports such as baseball, ice hockey, volleyball, basketball, soccer, lacrosse, wrestling, football and softball. CSTV will also broadcast weekly match-ups through special agreements with the top ten conferences in Division I-AA football, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Other programming highlights include coaches' shows featuring top collegiate coaches and key alumni-athletes, profiles of athletes and coaches, news and highlights programs, classic game programming and deep coverage of sports such as swimming and diving, track & field, tennis, rowing, equestrian and cross country.

"We are delighted that CSTV is making its home at Chelsea Piers," said Tom A. Bernstein, president of Chelsea Piers Management, Inc. "It is an inspired idea that fits perfectly with the wide range of sports and television production activities based at Chelsea Piers."
