CSTV's news and research departments will make the selection from a field of qualified candidates compiled from nominations and independent reporting. The announcement of each week's winner will be released on Sunday afternoon. Then come back to CSTV.com at the end of each month to vote for the CSTV Student-Athlete of the Month!
To nominate a student-athlete, please send an email to student-athlete@cstv.com detailing the candidate's relevant academic and athletic achievements or records, major course of study, GPA and any anecdotal information illustrative of balanced student-athlete success. Please also attach a broadcast-quality color headshot.

Week of April 10: Ryan LaMotta School: Baylor Sport: Baseball Position: Pitcher Class: Junior Major: Business/Entrepreneurship |
![]() |
All the work and none of the glory, such is the life of a middle reliever and Baylor junior Ryan LaMotta. LaMotta has not started a single game this season and he only has one save but he's been one of the Bears most consistent performers and has a 4-0 record and an ERA just over two to show for it. The Sugar Land, Texas native has been particularly strong of late. Since surrendering two runs in a Feb. 27 win over Arizona State, LaMotta has not allowed a single run to score while striking out 20 and walking just six in over 18 innings of work. In 2003 LaMotta was named a Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American, and last season the business major earned honors for his work in the classroom by being named First Team Academic All-Big 12 for having a GPA over 3.2. |
